The Reverend Laura A. Gronberg
The Reverend Laura Abernethy Gronberg is the 30th settled pastor of Second Congregational Church of Boxford, United Church of Christ.
Laura comes to Second Church with joy after serving as a chaplain at Wayside Hospice in Wayland, MA. Laura received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Religious Studies in 1994 from The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. She received her Master’s of Divinity in May 2008 from Andover Newton Theological School where she was inducted into the Jonathan Edwards Honor Society.
Laura is married to Fred who is a First Aid and CPR Instructor, among his varied talents. Together, they have two children, Matthew and Rachel, who attend Spofford Pond School. Laura has been a life-long member of the United Church of Christ, and is the daughter and sister of UCC clergy. Laura was an active member of the Wellesley Congregational Church in Wellesley, Massachusetts before coming to Second Church. It is with deep gratitude that she serves as pastor of our warm and welcoming community of faith.
Youth Director, Betsey Guest -Natale
Betsey Guest-Natale grew up in Topsfield. After graduating from Masconomet, she received her AA from Northern Essex Community College and her BA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in Early Childhood Education. Up until her first child was born, she worked as lead teacher for a DSS child care facility in Lynn. A long time member of the Congregational Church of Topsfield, in 1993 she felt herself being called to do more for children's ministries. For 17 years Betsey served the Topsfield church in many capacities, starting with Director of Children's Ministries and finishing as Director of Youth Missions and Outreach. She was part of the team that created Joyful Noises Preschool and served as a volunteer President of the Board of Overseers for several years. Over the years Betsey has become a Certified Christian Educator through the United Church of Christ, she has earned certificates in Youth Ministry from the MACUCC, and the Institue of for Youth Ministry at the Princeton Theological Seminary. She earned the honor of Christian Educator of the Year from the MACUCC. Last year Betsey felt that she could better serve the Topsfield church as a volunteer. This enabled her to accept a foster child into her home.
Betsey lives in Haverhill with her husband Jerry, her daughter Gina(16) and her foster daughter Stepanie (17). Her sons Anthony (23) and Joe (20) are away at college. Betsey plays tennis, skis, and loves to spend time at her cottage in Maine.
Sunday School Superintendent
Tina de la Cruz
Tina grew up at Second Church and has participated as a Sunday School student, teacher, and now Superintendent. Tina has a master's degree in Education and works outside of church as a Spanish teacher at Governor's Academy. Recently married to Miguel de la Cruz, she also spends summers running Benson's Ice Cream, just down the street from Second Church. As an adult whose life was formed by many of the lessons taught at Second Church, she feels that our Sunday School educational program is an important part of the lives of our children.
Office Administrator, Stefanie Nolan
Stefanie is a resident of North Andover and is a graduate of Regis College with a focus on Human Resources. Married and a mother of two, Stefanie still finds time to organize and direct the church daily operations.
Stefanie's smile and pleasant welcome greets the many who enter our church office.
Music Director, Sandi Nason
Sandi grew up in Second Church and has been singing and playing the piano for as long as anyone can remember! She has the ability to encourage even the shyest musician. Our church music flourishes with her energy and enthusiasm.
In addition to her church responsibilities, Sandi has a special interest in theater and is co-founder of Moonlight Productions, a community theater group.
Martha Maysek is a Boxford resident and has been a member of Second Church for 18 years. Martha joined our staff as the Communications Administrator where she oversees weekly and monthly newsletters as well as press releases and the church website. Martha holds a Bachelors Degree in Consumer Service. In addition to her responsibilities at church she is busy with her husband, three daughters and two standard poodles.
Sexton, Kimberly Robertson
Kimberly Robertson is a proud lifetime member of the Second Congregational Church. As an active member of the choir, you may hear some happy tunes over the hum of her vacuum. In addition to her Sexton position Kimberly also teaches music and movement for children in Andover, MA and performs regularly in musical theater productions throughout MA.
